Dave’s Running offers 18-Week Marathon Training Programs for both the half (13.1 miles) and the full (26.2) marathon. You can choose between the beginner program and the advanced program depending on your ability. For those of you who have very little running experience may want to start with the beginning program and if your training is going strong, you can always move to the advanced program anytime if you feel you’re not getting enough minutes (mileage) in to prepare you for your upcoming race.
Both programs offer a long run and a speed workout each week, which is essential in your training. The other days our “maintenance days” to help you establish a good base of training. In addition, as you work through the 18-Week Program, you will notice that each week will add a little more to your plate. Every fourth week will offer a down week to help you recover. You can’t continue to increase your minutes of weekly running every single week otherwise you take a risk of getting hurt.
Our spring marathon training will kick off the week of December 19, 2011 and will conclude on April 14, 2012. The program is designed to help you be more accountable with others who may have your same ability and to meet new runners in our community. It is not a requirement that you attend but highly encouraged. We will meet each Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at different metroparks in the Toledo area and will meet each Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Perry Field House in Bowling Green. Certified coaches will be in attendance to help guide and encourage you in your journey to the starting line.
The cost for the program is $75.00, which includes the following: Asics jacket, arm warmers, In-training long sleeve tech tee, in-store clinics, 18-week training program, pasta meal, post-race celebration and in-store discounts. You must register on line at www.davesrunning.com. Click on our new on-line store. When payment is received, you will receive an email to download the program. In December, you will receive an email with the specifics on location for first training run.
