PR 5k Training Program

Can’t quite seem to drop those last 20 seconds off your 5k time? Want to run faster than you have in years? Never run at all before but thinking about checking out one of those 5k deals everyone always talks about? Dave’s PR 5k Program is for you!

The PR—or Personal Record—5k program is designed to deliver all that the name would suggest. Rewrite your personal record book with a quick but methodical eight-week program that will whip you into shape just in time for this PR_5K_Back_Web.jpgsummer’s flat and lightning fast Tigertown 5000.

The program will kick off the first week of June, and will meet twice a week for organized group runs. Runners may sign up for various groups based on their goal times. There will be groups geared towards finishing the race at 6, 7, 8, and 9, and 10+ minute mile pace, as well as a group tailored specifically to first time runners. Runners may change groups throughout the program as needed; whether you feel the need for further challenge or are in over your head!

Mondays will be held in conjunction with Dave’s ongoing Metro Park Monday series, and will feature tempo workouts. We will meet at Wildwood at 6:30p.m. throughout June and at Swan Creek at 6:30p.m. in July.  Thursdays will feature speed workouts on the track at Timberstone Middle School, also beginning at 6:30p.m.

The cost of the program is $75. This includes a full 8 week training program, a race day uniform consisting of shorts and a Dave’s Running singlet or tech tee, an additional Dave’s Running tech tee, and complimentary entry in the Tigertown Race. Tech Reps from various fine shoe manufacturers will be in attendance throughout the program with test-wears of their latest products, along with guest speakers from all walks of the sport.
