Agree with Beefy, marathoners want colder weather. But also think Clint shouldn't worry about the Pig. Do what is best for Toledo. I wont make a comment on Mother's day until I become a mother myself (hoping anyday now).

Beefy, I agree that 40 degrees is perfect for a marathon but in mid April you still could have a nasty day!!!!!! Thanks for coming at me!!!It was like Chug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

depends on what you want for a expo. most companies are at boston and they will be at the pig. mothers day sounds great i would do a survey with this years attendes and asked them to vote on possible dates. it used to be on fathers day. they had a father and son division. i remember to well. the son didnt shine that day. lol april 17th if this is boston week end expo may suffer again. clint you will figure this out.

Did something similiar like this happen in 2003? I believe Easter fell late in 2003 around April 22 or something like that. Was the Glass City Marathon a week before Easter then?

Default 2011 Date has been chosen

Thank you all for your feedback. In reviewing the past 7 yeasrs of GCM dates, here is how this event has played out:
    4/24/04
    4/10/05
    4/12/06
    4/15/07
    4/13/08
    4/26/09
    4/25/10

    Potential Dates for 2011:
5/8 -- Mother's day -- ruled out because of UT graduation on campus
5/1 -- Pig -- no problem for runners, but we would be hard pressed to attrac any vendors for an expo
4/24 -- Easter -- Pope said no marathons
4/17 -- day before Boston -- no problem attracting runners, difficult time attracting vendors

After reviewing all of this information, we have decided that the best date for this event to 1)maintain the number of runners and 2) to keep the progress of growing our expo is to go with 4/17/11.

Another side benefit from out sponsor side is that the spring UT football game is on the Friday night of our weekend so we will continue to bring the athletes and coaches in. If you missed the kids run this year, it was a sight to see the football players being pushed in the mile by 8 year olds.
