Most of us know the importance of getting protein & carbs into our bodies within 30min of a hard workout for maximal recovery. Here's a proven smoothie recipe I use regularly. Would love to hear what your favorite recovery drink/food is.

*8oz purified water
*4oz Bolthouse Farms "Berry Boost" flavor juice or Pomegranate juice
*3 heaping TBSP wild frozen blueberries
*8-10 frozen tart cherries (aka "Montmorency" cherries)
*1/4 frozen banana chunk
*2-3 stalks of fresh dark green Kale (pull leaf from spine & discard spine)
*1 scoop vanilla protein powder - I use either Juice Plus Complete(soy-based) or Hammer Whey(hammernutrition.com)
*Blend until smooth
*Total Calories = 325; Protein = 20g; Carbs = 30-40g; Fat = less than 2g

**The blueberries, cherries and juice serve as a natural anti-inflammatory...very important to get "tart" cherries rather than sweet cherries. The kale contains protein, calcium and blood-building qualities. Banana is good source of potassium. Try to find a protein powder with very little fat & no artificial sweeteners.

***These ingredients can be found in most grocery stores like Meijer & Whole Foods Market.

****I feel incredible when I get this smoothie into my body within 15-30min after my run. Your body will thank you!
