1/2 and relay
Would I be able to register for the half and be part of a relay team? I have 18 that weekend for my long run before Bayshore. but I also have some friends who want to do the 5 person relay. I figure I could run the first leg, and continue on to finish the half (unless the half cuts off before the first leg does) and just add on some miles either before or after as a w/u and c/d.
Or - as I was typing this I thought that, I could just run my 18 on Saturday, which is when I want to run my long runs, and then suffer through one of the legs on Sunday! And, count that towards my mileage the next week. (I like to keep a Sunday - Saturday running calendar).
We aren't looking to go out and be the fastest relay team. It's actually someone I work with, who was never a runner who's friend has talked her into a half. They want to do the relay to get them geared up!
What do you think would be my best bet? I'm leaning towards regular long run on Saturday, and then one of the relay legs on Sunday.
Thanks!!

Looks as though it had been done last year with the marathon and the relay:
1936 James McCormick Overland Park KS MALE 50-54 52 M 3:59:37 76 2 22
1937 Kevin McCormick Overland Park KS MALE 20-24 24 M 3:59:37 75 4
4 3575 Run For Fun
James McCormick,Kylie Gardner,Kaye Mccormick,Kevin McCormick,Shannon Mccormick
Overland Park KS 3:53:47 8:56
So I can't see anyone givng you a hard time about it. However, may be good to ask.

I had seen on the GCM website that it said you could for the full and the relay, I figured I could for the half and the relay, but it might be easier to just run the long run on Saturday and then attempt one of the shorter legs on Sunday

with regards to registering for multiple events: you are able to do the full marathon and be part of a relay team.
You are not able to do the half marathon and a relay team based on how the course breaks off; you wouldn't be able to complete the entire first leg.
You will need to register for both events.
