2010 Glass City Marathon

Yes -- The marathon course has been completed and marked. We are still working on the half marathon.

Big news for pre-event coverage already:

Live TV coverage Saturday morning -- WTOL will be out at Wildwood to broadcast live between 8-10am for the Official Dave's Running Shop Marathon Training Team. Melissa Voetsch will be there to register for the training group and interview myself, Scott Horns from Dave's, Metroparks, and Autism spokesperson.

Come on out and show your support after or before your long run as we are poised to get much pre-event publicity this year.

We have had great interest in the training team and many have signed up already. We will cap the training team at 50 runners to allow for a more personal approach. So far we are at the halfway mark after less than week.

We now have 34 runners registered for the training group and had 27 show up for the kick off run. Only 16 spots left so if anyone is interested in joining the program, don't wait too long.

Something to get exited about. I listened to RD report for 2010 GCM at board meeting last night. Expect a bigger and better race to come. Changes made to increase participation and sponsorship. Look for change of course - this in my opinion is a good thing. It comes down to availability of police. Toledo TPD may not have sufficient numbers to hire for 2010. So it becomes a necessity to change.

A real brief update: Registration should hit 1000 today. just under 14 weeks to go. Marathon distance is higher than I expected at this point, half marathon on track, and relays are starting to come in now.

Here's some discussion. I understand that the largest TRRC event was the Toledo Blade 10K many years ago with 3200 finishers. Can anyone back this up or provide historical information on the largest?
