I also have heard this ...run forrest......................... Great movie.! The lead actor, Tom, actually ran cc in HS and that is why he had this theme plugged into his movie.
Ruth and Mary are legendary at WW the last 8-10 years.
    Dog walkers who recognize runners.
Ruth has not been seen much this year. She of the German Shepard type.
Mary has been nothing but complimentary to the runners.( DON'T know her dog since she was positive)
Ruth had learned to be a bit more flexible and was much more social in her last days since she disappeared.
I saw both many times and speak of experience.

Chug, agreed. Both are much more pleasant nowadays. Kind of shows what happens when you say hello consistently as you run by people in the park.

Those two simply didn't like Darmo or Adibob.

I was running in Newark, OH area a few years back on a bike path past a construction site. A few of the construction workers yell, "run, run, run..." Of course, I didn't acknowledge them, but after some thought I decided I'd reply on my way back. As I approached I noticed about 6 of them all staring at the ground (a hole or something), so I yell to them "stand around, stand around, stand around"

I thought it was pretty funny.

I actually do have a running confrontation story. A year ago, while in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays, a few friends and I went for a run along the Shuylkill river, which is right near UPenn and has a nice path along it. As we're a couple miles in, we go by a young boy and girl, probably 10 or so, just standing around/walking.

Then, on the way back, the boy (in jeans and carrying a foldout paper fan, for whatever reason) decides to come run with us, telling us about how fast he is. So we're saying, "Oh, we got a runner," "future cross country star," etc. I believe there may have been talk about challenging us to a race as well -- hazy memory.

But then after about 30 seconds (he's running next me, starting to get winded), he gives me a sly look, then punches me in the shoulder, turns around and sprints the other way. We continued on laughing, and I yelled back something like "Just wait till next year! Penn Relays '09!" Needless to say, he was a no-show this year.

Once on a trail at school, I was running along, passing two guys on an uphill. At least one must have been Jamaican, because he glanced over as I went by and said in a awesome accent, "You make it look so easy, mon." That brightened my day.

Best "Run, Forrest, Run" comment: Two years ago, our whole team was doing an easy run right through the middle of downtown Eugene the day before a meet, probably not a quarter mile from Hayward Field. Tracktown, USA, right? Well, we're running along when a beard in a pickup going by leans out the window and delivers that classic line in a classic drawl, before driving off.
You may be faster than me,
You may be stronger than me,
You may be smarter than me,
    But can you beat me?

Bo , my suggestion is to talk with Doc F. , he of Phili. descent.
The people of Philadelphia are known to be some of the most hard scrabble types of individuals in our country.
I am so glad you are gaining these experiences at a younger age.

I've gotten this crap just once in the 26 years I've run in the Ottawa/Jermain/Beatty Parks area. You never know who you might be messing with. Example: a group of boxers and MMA fighters run at Ottawa at the same time as our team.

I've experienced the "Run Forrest Run" and the "who are you running from?" lines. One of my favorite lines was someone yelling "it's working, it's working" as I ran by.

I also remember running by Ruth and her shouting "when does school start?" She knew we were not there in the mornings when school started. Once in mid August she even started singing "school days, school days" as we ran by.

Yeah...look at GoIrish - he is hard scrabble.

GoIrish needs to tell the story of him running along the bike path alone in Philly!

    Default Hmmmm

I was just talking to one of my buddies last week. We were talking about his summer training. He said a few days ago he was running on some trails that were "sketch" and in the middle of nowhere. He came to a small clearing only to find a couple. He ran right past them and apologized as he ran by while the couple was left groping desperatly for their clothes.

Not the first time. I have heard from a few other people who have seen this in Oak Openings as well. When you run, you see and hear it all.
